Fab Skirts

Nothing lifts our spirits and reminds us that spring is around the corner like skirts. Toronto's been having much colder weather than we're used to, but everyone's hanging in there. Sadly, we're starting to think -25 is an average day. The few days that it has been just under freezing, it was pretty common to be hearing "Wow, it's pretty warm out, it's only -2 today." or even outrageous things such as "Its summer!". We only have about a week until our 'spring break', a.k.a. reading week. So hopefully the weather will be better then.

For the record it there was a snowstorm on this day.
But thankfully since the classes we had are in building connected to PATH (an underground path in Toronto!) So we were never really in the cold.

Career Fair

Our amazing program offered a career fair today where representatives came in from different companies and we had the opportunity to chat with them and inquire about future positions. We were thrilled when we heard and immediately thought "WE GET TO DRESS UP," so we did!
There were many companies that came to our school. Some of the companies that came were as Harry Rosen, Guess, Victoria's Secret, Cadillac Fairview, Aldo, Le Chateau, Michael Hill Jewellers, Starbucks Canada, and many more. Students were dressed to impress just as the representatives were. We're so happy that our school is able to do many networking functions such as this for the students.

We were told to come prepared with our own business cards, resumes and be dressed in business casual. We were definitely dressing for success!

Son and Olivia, the great Guess reps we met!

and plenty of freebies and business cards!
As any business student knows, networking is very important. Talking to many of the recruiters and other representatives will hopefully help us in our future endeavours. It was very exciting and interesting to learn on how many of the companies work and what they offer such as internships.

Sleep Deprived Class

We decided that since we're downtown so often, we're going to be documenting a lot more and that means we get to post more fun outfits! Thursdays we have an 8am lecture, which means 7am trains... it's fair to say, no one is fully awake when they get to that class.
So this is kind of what we wear when we have to go through a very tiring day.
The sunshine was NOT enough to warm us up on this cold day.

This is a little peek as to what our school looks like!

Get Active!

As a little change of scene, we decided to do a fitness post as health is something very important to both of us and D's a little bit of a fitness freak. Since everyone has difference fitness goals, we decided to do a small stretch guide instead of exercises.

No matter what your flexibility level, stretching is always important after a work out to relax the muscles. Progress is always slow, so don't worry if you can't reach very far at first.

Practice all stretches with toes both pointed and flexed. Always continue to push yourself but knowing your limits.
Of course, remember to stretch both sides (arms, legs or whatever you're stretching) equally.

With practice, stretches will become much easier.

Tons of people focus on stretching conventional things like legs and forget that the rest of their bodies are important too! Try putting your arm against a wall and turning away from it to stretch your chest and shoulders.

A bridge (or Backbend) takes practice to improve, be sure to treat your body kindly and not force it. As it becomes easier push your shoulders forward and try to straighten your legs. Eventually there are many modifications that can be made to continue advancing your flexibility

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ROLL OUT YOUR BACK AFTER

For those of you who want to get their splits:

Go into a lunge position with your back leg on the ground and push forward until you feel the stretch. Remember that your knee should never go past your ankle.
Then reverse the position by having your back leg in a kneeling position and your front leg extended.
When comfortable slide into your splits (remember to always do both legs)

and if you're a show off like D..

A good workout always feels good ... once you're done!
