DIY Sugar Scrub

I often get told that my hands are very soft. So I decided that I'd show what I do. Of course moisturizing your skin is very important, but I have somewhat dry skin, especially in these winter months. I was first inspired to start making this scrub after a few years ago when I was at a seafood restaurant in the states and in the washroom they had a scrub that you could use. I was shocked to see how soft my hands were. I then found that the restaurant was selling this scrub, but for an extremely expensive price, so I decided that I would just make it.

Sugar scrubs are both very good at exfoliating and moisturizing your skin. Also as a student its a great way to save because you most likely have the ingredients at home.
So here's what I do:

The ingredients needed are simply sugar and coconut oil.

The sugar can be substituted with brown sugar or salt.
To me there is no difference between using brown sugar and white refined sugar because they are both made up of the same compounds. All you need is something grainy that will exfoliate the skin.
The coconut oil can be substituted with olive oil or any other type of oil, its all up to your preference. Essential oils can also be added.

Tools needed are a measuring spoon and a plate or something to mix it in, and also to store it.

So first measure out two parts sugar, or your exfoliant.
Then one part coconut oil.

Then mix them together until you create a paste.

Then you're all done!

To use the scrub simply take it and gently scrub the part of your skin or body that you want scrubbed. Afterwards, rinse of the scrub and pat dry. You should be feeling silky soft now!

(I only made about one days worth)

POST SCHEDULE

To add a little bit of structure, we have decided to regularly post on Wednesdays and Saturdays! From time to time we may add in an extra post, but those will be our official posting days. Be sure to check back on those days! Our goal is to do one outfit post and one tutorial of some sort post per week. But it may not always be that way!

See you on Wednesday!

R U Dreaming of a Short Winter?

Although the weather has consistently stayed below freezing, we couldn't help but put on some cropped tops and platforms. Two of our favourite things!  Toronto was in a deep freeze and now a thaw, but all good things must come to an end, and so we're heading back into one very soon. For this adventure we were able to take advantage of the mild temperatures. While exploring we found a cute furniture store that was nice enough to let us shoot there. While exploring we also encountered pretty interesting architecture in various neighbourhoods. To update everyone, since this post is mostly an update, we're now back in class and on the daily grind of early mornings and long train rides. That means that there will be much more exciting posts coming your way!

Choosing poses isn't exactly our strong suit!
Not to mention finding the right lighting.
But, eventually we get it right.

Christmas Bliss

Although so busy with the holidays and Christmas we both recreated our Christmas looks to share with you all.
The holidays are a great time, you are with your friends and family, laughing and sharing, making memories that will last until next years' holidays. Hopefully you will all be well fed too with all the holidays parties you may be going to. This is the time for reflecting and cherishing our friends and family and remembering the real reason why we celebrate Christmas and the holidays. The great ice storm that just past through Toronto and the GTA is a great reminder of what you should be thankful for, and reminding you of what it is like to be together without any distractions such as your computer or video game consoles. The holidays are also the time of dressing up and looking fab for all these celebrations. We hope all of you celebrating Christmas had a very merry one and everyone else, happy holidays! We also hope you are dressing fab too!
