Friendly Faces

It was inevitable to start a street style portion of the blog since there are so many well dressed Torontonians roaming around! What really pushed us to start this was an amazingly dressed elderly woman we saw in Chapters. She was probably the most fiercely dressed elderly woman we've seen in our lives! After fangirl-ing for a couple minutes we decided to go find the white haired, all black dressed woman with a huge stack of fashion books The stack of books was probably a foot and a half high). After looking all around the store, we realized to our dismay, that she was gone and we learned three very important rules:
  1. Always have your camera with you.
  2. Always look your best.
  3. Do not hesitate.
So thanks to that nameless lady we'll probably never see again, we bring you friendly faces.

Cassie and Alanna found in TopShop. They caught our eyes because they were brave enough to go without tights in -30 weather. Not to mention the adorable skirts!

Didn't catch her name, but we found her at The Room in Hudson's Bay. Her coat was to die for!
There is nothing like Toronto Street Style

Sleep Deprived Class

We decided that since we're downtown so often, we're going to be documenting a lot more and that means we get to post more fun outfits! Thursdays we have an 8am lecture, which means 7am trains... it's fair to say, no one is fully awake when they get to that class.
So this is kind of what we wear when we have to go through a very tiring day.
The sunshine was NOT enough to warm us up on this cold day.

This is a little peek as to what our school looks like!

Get Active!

As a little change of scene, we decided to do a fitness post as health is something very important to both of us and D's a little bit of a fitness freak. Since everyone has difference fitness goals, we decided to do a small stretch guide instead of exercises.

No matter what your flexibility level, stretching is always important after a work out to relax the muscles. Progress is always slow, so don't worry if you can't reach very far at first.

Practice all stretches with toes both pointed and flexed. Always continue to push yourself but knowing your limits.
Of course, remember to stretch both sides (arms, legs or whatever you're stretching) equally.

With practice, stretches will become much easier.

Tons of people focus on stretching conventional things like legs and forget that the rest of their bodies are important too! Try putting your arm against a wall and turning away from it to stretch your chest and shoulders.

A bridge (or Backbend) takes practice to improve, be sure to treat your body kindly and not force it. As it becomes easier push your shoulders forward and try to straighten your legs. Eventually there are many modifications that can be made to continue advancing your flexibility

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ROLL OUT YOUR BACK AFTER

For those of you who want to get their splits:

Go into a lunge position with your back leg on the ground and push forward until you feel the stretch. Remember that your knee should never go past your ankle.
Then reverse the position by having your back leg in a kneeling position and your front leg extended.
When comfortable slide into your splits (remember to always do both legs)

and if you're a show off like D..

A good workout always feels good ... once you're done!

R U Dreaming of a Short Winter?

Although the weather has consistently stayed below freezing, we couldn't help but put on some cropped tops and platforms. Two of our favourite things!  Toronto was in a deep freeze and now a thaw, but all good things must come to an end, and so we're heading back into one very soon. For this adventure we were able to take advantage of the mild temperatures. While exploring we found a cute furniture store that was nice enough to let us shoot there. While exploring we also encountered pretty interesting architecture in various neighbourhoods. To update everyone, since this post is mostly an update, we're now back in class and on the daily grind of early mornings and long train rides. That means that there will be much more exciting posts coming your way!

Choosing poses isn't exactly our strong suit!
Not to mention finding the right lighting.
But, eventually we get it right.

Warm Winter

We were lucky enough to get above freezing temperatures the other day. We took it as an opportunity to go out and buy some DIY supplies, and obviously take a couple shots so we could post on here! Winter has its pros and cons. Cons being that it is far too cold. And pros being that winter clothing brings a whole new feeling to you and your wardrobe. As the fabrics, styles, and colours are dramatically different from those of spring and summer. There is nothing like wearing comfy and fluffy sweaters in this Canadian weather.

Ways to stay warm this winter while looking fab

1. Oversized sweaters ...in other words dress appropriately
2. Consume hot beverages such as hot chocolate, tea, or coffee or soups
3. Cuddle up in a blanket by your fireplace
4. Take hot showers/baths
5. Candles ...be cautious!
6. Do not expose yourself unnecessarily
7. Be as active as possible.

The fluffier the better!
I've been obsessed with 60s inspired big hair lately.

Christmas Bliss

Although so busy with the holidays and Christmas we both recreated our Christmas looks to share with you all.
The holidays are a great time, you are with your friends and family, laughing and sharing, making memories that will last until next years' holidays. Hopefully you will all be well fed too with all the holidays parties you may be going to. This is the time for reflecting and cherishing our friends and family and remembering the real reason why we celebrate Christmas and the holidays. The great ice storm that just past through Toronto and the GTA is a great reminder of what you should be thankful for, and reminding you of what it is like to be together without any distractions such as your computer or video game consoles. The holidays are also the time of dressing up and looking fab for all these celebrations. We hope all of you celebrating Christmas had a very merry one and everyone else, happy holidays! We also hope you are dressing fab too!

Frozen Exploring

With the temperature looming almost around the -10°C mark and misguided thought, we headed to explore a little more of Queen St. West and China Town – in skirts! On Queen St. West we explored the unique boutiques and stores, finding many unique and cute things. Our particular favourites were the vintage stores, such as the infamous Black Market and Kops. Diana even bought a few vintage records. The frigid temperature did not stop our curiosity, as we ventured to China Town. As we went further down Dundas St. we decided to go into the AGO, which is free on Wednesdays from 6-8:30pm (a tip for students) and free for high schoolers from 3pm everyday. On our adventure we saw quite a few fab looking people. What a day, which it was indeed.

Taking Refuge in the AGO
